Once you've bought TAO on an exchange, transfer it to your self-custody wallet (Talisman, Nova, or Ledger). This gives you full control over your TAO and lets you stake on subnets.
5)To stake your TAO on subnets, you need a staking interface. These platforms connect to your wallet and let you interact with the Bittensor network.
The most comprehensive staking interface for Bittensor. Shows all subnets, validators, APY data, and allows direct staking through your connected wallet.
Clean, modern interface for Bittensor staking. Great for beginners with a simplified staking flow and portfolio overview.
Advanced interface for power users. Direct access to all Bittensor chain functions via extrinsics. Not recommended for beginners.
Now for the exciting part: staking your TAO on subnets. With dTAO (Dynamic TAO), you can stake on individual subnets and earn rewards based on their performance. Each subnet has its own alpha token that you receive when staking.
When you stake TAO on a subnet, your TAO goes into a liquidity pool (AMM) and you receive alpha tokens in return. The alpha token price is determined by supply and demand - if more people stake, the price goes up.
You earn rewards through emissions: the Bittensor network distributes TAO to subnets every block, and stakers receive a share proportional to their stake.
You also earn from alpha token price appreciation if the subnet performs well and attracts more stakers.
