Gradients team debugs LoRA merge logic in prep container

Developer identified potential bugs in the feature/pvp-eval-container branch related to LoRA checkpoint handling. Issues flagged: detect_and_merge_lora method may fail when receiving local paths instead of Hub repos, and merged LoRA output path mismatch with bound volume (/tmp vs /cache). Team requested code review before next tournament.
